“Father, if you are willing, please take this cup of suffering away from me. Yet I want your will to be done, not mine.” Then an angel from heaven appeared and strengthened him. ~ Luke 42-43
Resistance is the feeling that often comes when we are finally on the right track.
It hides just below the surface of our consciousness. It tells us to turn back. That what you are doing is not worth it. That nobody cares. That you are wasting your time. That you are not making a difference. That it is too hard and unrealistic.
It tries to make you go back to the ways of comfort. To a place where you are not challenged to grow and become who God created you to be. We all experience it. But it takes a lot of effort to bring resistance out of the shadows to our conscious awareness.
How did Jesus deal with his resistance?
- He spoke it out loud thereby bringing it to the very surface of his consciousness.
- He immediately turns it over to the will of God.
- He is strengthened to continue his journey to the cross.
